HASHLYNK container solution – product image

Container solutions

For open sites, power plants & large generation facilities

The HASHLYNK container solution uses large amounts of surplus electricity directly at the generation site. The Hydro version also makes the resulting heat available for use.

The container solution at a glance

The HASHLYNK container solution is installed directly at the generation site, for example beside a large ground-mounted PV installation, at a power plant or on company premises. As a standalone weatherproof unit, it requires no additional indoor space.

Surplus electricity that would otherwise be curtailed or fed in below value becomes additional revenue on site. In the Hydro version, operational heat also becomes available for heating or processes. Output, configuration and the number of units are designed around your generation and load data.

Planning, manufacturing and commissioning come from a single provider. In operation, the system runs fully automatically, matched to the surplus actually available.

How surplus electricity becomes additional revenue

Electricity, computing power, Bitcoin, euros: this is how HASHLYNK creates economic value from surplus electricity. The container solution converts surplus energy into computing power, which is paid for in Bitcoin and can be sold for euros immediately or later. Electricity is thus converted into a digital, tradeable flow of value.

Product features

Container solution features

The HASHLYNK container solution is a standalone system for open sites and large generation facilities. It uses 20- or 40-foot containers with 48 to 96 miners and 250 to 500 kW of power per container. Each unit is designed individually for its site.

  • Air or Hydro version

The Air version uses air cooling and focuses on electricity utilisation. The water-cooled Hydro version also makes the resulting heat available for further use.

  • Heat recovery in the Hydro version

The integrated heat exchanger makes operational heat available at flow temperatures of up to 60 °C for heating systems, buffer storage or process heat.

  • Designed around site data

Every unit is tailored to your site. The design is based on your generation profile, grid connection, heat demand and local conditions.

  • Modular cascading

Multiple systems per container and multiple containers per site can be combined flexibly and expanded step by step as surplus grows.

  • Fully automatic control

The integrated HashLink Automation Controller detects available surplus in real time, prioritises self-consumption and adjusts power within seconds.

  • Noise and fire protection

Sound insulation, ventilation routing and fire protection are part of the design and are tailored to site requirements and the permitting process.

  • High technical standards

Developed and manufactured in Austria, with a focus on certification, machinery requirements, cyber security and system logic for reliable long-term operation.

  • Implementation from a single provider

Project design, control cabinet construction, manufacturing, electrical installation (including connection, meters and measurement points), software and commissioning are provided directly by HASHLYNK. A licensed installer can be coordinated for hydraulic integration of the Hydro version where required.

Benefits of the container solution

Increase revenue at the generation site

The container solution creates an additional use for electricity directly at the installation, whether at an open site or a power plant. Surplus is used locally instead of being curtailed or fed in at very low prices. Over a four-year average, returns are around €0.20 per kWh.*

Short on-site construction time

Manufacturing, wiring and testing take place at HASHLYNK in advance. Only positioning, connection and commissioning remain to be done on site.

Relocatable and expandable

If requirements change, the container can be moved to another site and additional units can be added at any time.

Applications

  • Energy producers

For operators of ground-mounted PV, hydropower, wind or biogas installations whose generation is located away from buildings and whose grid feed-in is reaching its economic limits.

  • Industry & logistics

For companies with large electricity surpluses and fully occupied technical spaces that want to use their surplus directly on company premises.

  • Project developers

For new projects or plant expansions where surplus utilisation is considered during planning to improve the economics of the entire project.

  • Sites with grid constraints

For installations with feed-in limits, curtailment or weak grid connections, including remote off-grid systems, where generated electricity must be used locally.

  • Installations awaiting grid connection

For completed ground-mounted PV installations that could already produce electricity but are still awaiting approval from the grid operator. The container solution makes electricity economically useful during this phase and can later move to the next site.

  • Off-grid and remote sites

For remote installations without a grid connection where the container solution puts surplus electricity to economic use locally.

Container solution FAQ

What is needed on site?

A load-bearing area accessible by truck, an adequately sized electrical connection, potentially via an existing transformer station for larger installations, and a hydraulic handover point for the Hydro version. Specific preparation requirements are documented in writing after the site assessment.

Which sites is the container solution suitable for?

The container solution suits sites with recurring surplus electricity and available space, such as ground-mounted PV installations, power plants, company premises or installations with feed-in limits. Key factors are the surplus profile, connection conditions and whether heat can be used on site. For a broader overview, see our knowledge-hub article on which sites are particularly suitable for HASHLYNK systems.

Container solution, HashRack or EcoHash: which suits my site?

HashRack and EcoHash are installed in existing buildings and plant rooms. The container solution is the choice for open sites, sites without available indoor space and larger power requirements from around 200 kW.

Air or Hydro: which version suits my site?

Air is the simpler version and suits sites without heat demand. Hydro also supplies heat at up to 60 °C and is worthwhile where this heat can be used year-round or seasonally. The appropriate version is determined during the site assessment.

Does the container solution need a permit?

Depending on the country or region, size and location, a construction notification or permit may be required. HASHLYNK assists with the technical documentation.

Who handles implementation?

Project design, control cabinet construction, manufacturing, electrical installation, software and commissioning are provided directly by HASHLYNK. A licensed installer handles hydraulic integration into an existing heating system. HASHLYNK specifies the technical interface and coordinates it with the installer.

What does a container solution cost?

We prepare an individual quotation. Price and payback depend on output, configuration, cooling concept, heat use and connection conditions on site. Read more about the economics in our article on how the revenue logic of HASHLYNK systems really works.

How does operation work?

The container solution runs fully automatically. The HashLink Automation Controller detects available surplus, prioritises self-consumption and adjusts power within seconds. In the Hydro version, heat use is integrated into the same control system.
