HashUnit

For residential buildings & small businesses

HashUnit uses surplus electricity locally, monetises it and supports your heating system through heat recovery.

HashUnit at a glance

HashUnit uses the surplus electricity from your residential building or small business and turns it into additional income. The resulting heat also supports your heating system.

It provides up to 20 kW of system output. Depending on your needs, up to four miners can be installed, with either air or water cooling.

Our team installs and commissions HashUnit, including training. The integrated HashLink Automation Controller then takes over fully automatic control, matched to your actual surplus.

Indicative value for economic use, depending on site, operation and market conditions.

How surplus electricity becomes additional revenue

Electricity, computing power, Bitcoin, euros: HashUnit converts surplus energy into computing power, which is paid for in Bitcoin and can be sold for euros immediately or later. Surplus electricity is thus converted into a digital, tradeable flow of value. The resulting heat also reduces the load on your heating system.

Product features

HashUnit features

HashUnit is a compact system optimiser for existing building services and can be integrated flexibly into existing infrastructure.

Open HashUnit with miners, water cooling and controls in the cabinet
  • Up to 20 kW system output

HashUnit covers system outputs up to 20 kW and can be matched to different surplus profiles in the building.

  • Designed for 5–20 kW

Designed for PV systems of 5 to 20 kW, HashUnit reliably covers the typical surplus of residential buildings and small businesses.

  • Fully automatic operation

The integrated HashLink Automation Controller detects available surplus and controls HashUnit independently, without manual intervention.

  • Integrated heat exchanger

The resulting heat is returned through the integrated heat exchanger and supports the existing heating system in the building.

  • Up to 4 miners per unit

Each HashUnit holds up to four miners and can be scaled for the available surplus potential.

  • Air or Hydro cooling

Depending on the site and requirements, HashUnit is available with air cooling or water cooling.

  • Made in Austria

Developed and manufactured in Austria with high-quality components, from sensors to electrical safety equipment.

  • Fully equipped

Includes the compact enclosure, miners, electronics, sensors and electrical safety equipment, network technology including a firewall, HashLink Automation Controller, piping and heat exchanger (Hydro), hydraulic safety equipment (Hydro), commissioning and training – certified to CE and RoHS.

HashUnit benefits

Monetise surplus electricity

Surplus electricity is used profitably on site instead of being fed into the grid below its value. Depending on the site, the return can be in the region of €0.20/kWh.

Ease the heating system load

The resulting heat supports the building especially during transitional seasons and can optionally help cover hot water.

Reduce operating costs

HashUnit helps use self-generated energy more economically and reduce ongoing building costs.

Applications

  • Residential buildings

For small to medium-sized residential buildings where surplus electricity, building services and heat recovery can be brought together effectively.

  • Small businesses

For small commercial sites with their own electricity generation that want to monetise surplus electricity locally and use the resulting heat in the building.

  • Agricultural residential and ancillary buildings

For sites with their own renewable electricity generation, seasonal load profiles and the potential to make better use of electricity and heat on site.

Installation & electricity generation

If known; otherwise we model the PV generation.

Feed-in & remuneration

Ideally state the average of the last 12 months or the expected remuneration.

Several files possible. For surplus feed-in, an annual amount or a usable annual profile is required. PDF (up to 2.5 MB) or CSV.

Consumption

Not to be confused with grid import alone.

Several files possible. CSV files only.

Electricity storage

Self-consumption takes priority. Free PV and storage energy for mining is simulated for your specific site.

HashUnit FAQ

Which buildings is HashUnit suitable for?

Residential buildings, small businesses and agricultural residential and ancillary buildings with regular surplus electricity, usually from a PV system, and a heating system that benefits from the resulting heat.

What electrical infrastructure is needed on site?

HashUnit needs a dedicated, appropriately protected circuit from the existing installation, sized for the system's continuous load. Integration is carried out professionally in line with applicable standards. The specific circuit requirements depend on system output and the existing installation and are clarified during the site assessment.

How does HashUnit support my heating system?

The integrated heat exchanger returns the resulting heat to the heating system at flow temperatures of up to 60 °C. This is particularly helpful in spring and autumn and can optionally also support domestic hot water.

What does a HashUnit cost and when does it pay for itself?

We prepare an individual quotation. Price and payback depend on surplus volume, the number of miners, the version, heat use and changes in the Bitcoin price and network difficulty.

How long does it take from enquiry to implementation?

Usually two to four months, depending on the site and version.

Is maintenance required?

Rarely. HashUnit is a closed system, Bitcoin miners are very robust and there are hardly any wearing parts. Depending on the site, the miners have an economic life of around four to six years and a technical life of around ten years.
